community children’s theatre
Red Moon Community Children’s Theatre is a newly formed theatre company seeking to support brilliant young actors by providing an opportunity to experience the theatre in its many forms and disciplines, working at the beautiful historic Colfax Theatre. Students will be rehearsing on the same stage that they perform on. In our classes we will create an environment of acceptance, support, and creative freedom, and will offer a variety of classes and productions intended to broaden the skillsets and horizons of its students.
Join us this Saturday, February 9th any time between 12:00 and 4:00 in the afternoon to meet our dedicated production team.
Children of any experience level, ages 6 to 17, are encouraged to participate.
Our first class and production is a compilation of scenes and songs taken from shows such as Annie, The Sound of Music, Oliver, Fiddler on the Roof, Les Miserables, and Cinderella. Students will receive instruction in all aspects of musical theatre — singing, dancing, acting, auditioning, and improvisation — and everyone will have the opportunity to step into a lead role.
Classes run from 4:00 to 6:00 Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, starting February 12th. Performances are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, April 5-14
The program will be headed by Janet Stegman, the founder and former director of Kids on Broadway.of Santa Cruz County (see "Into the Woods directed by Janet Stegman" and "The Pirates of Penzance directed by Janet Stegman" on YouTube).
"My daughter, Cori, enrolled in Janet Stegman's 'Kids on Broadway' at 7 years old, and with the instruction and encouragement of Janet, discovered her passion for singing and acting. At age 13, she is represented by a top agent and is doing national t.v. shows and commercials. Thanks, Janet!"
