Inspired by epic storytelling, origami, and Japanese woodcut illustrations, Kubo and the Two Strings is the fourth production of Laika films, which created Coraline (2009), ParaNorman (2012), and The Box Trolls (2014). Artistically rendered with stop motion, this visually stunning film is rich in magic, fantasy, and adventure. It was released in August of 2016. Cast includes: Charlize Theron, Rooney Mara, Matthew McConaughey, Art Parkinson, Ralph Fiennes, George Takei. Directed by Travis Knight. Some children may find the subject matter to be frightening as the story does include intense relationships, and evil characters. Rated PG for thematic elements, scary images, action, and peril.
