Take 10 - A Thru the Lens Showcase

Join us at The Colfax Theatre as we showcase a compilation of the last three years of films from the Thru the Lens film festival. The evening will feature 10 minute films produced and written by local filmmakers. At the end of the evening there will be a talk back where the filmmakers will answer questions about their process and share all the trial, tribulations, and joys of the production process. The filmmakers will include teens and adults whose scripts were chosen during the screenwriting contest from the last three years that Thru the Lens has been holding as a fundraiser for Nevada County Media. The films vary in content from drama to comedy, and fantasy to western, and spiritual to film noir. These films were premiered at The Del Oro theatre in the fall of 2017, 2018, and 2019. Some filmmakers have films in multiple years.

This event is another fundraiser for Nevada County Media. The Colfax Theatre is donating the use of the theatre for this event. Please come out and support local art, and get inspired to enter your own script in the spring of 2020!

The Ryder Green Band + Grease Grit and Grime

THIS EVENT IS CURRENTLY BEING RESCHEDULED - DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED

From blistering renditions of blues-infused rock and funk to sublime vintage blues, R&B, slide, rock n roll, and everything in between, Ryder Green brings a dynamic mix of firepower and grit, effortlessly intertwined with melodic engaging songs, and straight-from-the-soul improvisation. His distinctive tone, infectious original songs and vocals, and attention-grabbing covers ignite crowds of all ages.

Originally known as a guitar virtuoso someone who threw his heart into amazingly soulful instrumentals, he's now bringing his rapidly growing fan base a powerful fusion of riveting song styles with strong influences of rock and funk brought into the widening spectrum of the blues genre. His melodies, rhythms, and lyrics are the type you just cant get out of your head, and don't want to! Combined with an ever-growing depth and mastery on all levels, he can wow the audience in a uniquely uplifting way.

Major influences came from the likes of John Mayer, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jonny Lang, Freddie King, Eric Gales, Walter Trout, Chris Cain, Jeff Beck, John Lee Hooker, Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Matt Schofield, Jimi Hendrix. More influences develop regularly like Gary Clark Jr., Chris Duarte, Henrik Freischlader.

A prolific songwriter, Green writes and sings about themes that often strike a universal chord in the message while spiking the music with riffs, phrasing, and changeups you won't hear anywhere else. Sometimes hard-driving and powerful, sometimes eloquently edgy but always engaging and entertaining. And Greens guitar solos are telling a story every bit as much as the lyrics. The blues genre has demanded constant reinvention to keep it thriving for generations to come, and Ryder Green epitomizes the creative driving force that will carry it forward.
